With the arrival of autumn comes the return of a South Carolina tradition:  Oyster roast season! Growing Home Southeast—a non-profit family service agency—will host its 3rd Annual Oyster Roast fundraiser on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm at the Carolina Haven near Williams Brice Stadium.

The event benefits Leaphart Place, built by Growing Home Southeast as a supportive housing complex for young adults who are aging out of foster care or other state-assisted living arrangements and are at risk for homelessness.

“Leapheart Place provides a bridge to independent living for young people who otherwise wouldn’t have a place to go after foster care,” said Gayle Ricks, executive director of Growing Home Southeast.  “They have a stable living environment with subsidized rent allowing them to ease into living on their own.”

Residents of Leapheart Place pay rent based on their income and must spend at least 25 hours each week in school, at work, or volunteering.

In addition to a tasty menu that includes oysters, Low Country Boil, chili, beer, wine and soft drinks, the oyster roast event will feature a silent auction.  Items up for bids will include South Carolina Gamecocks, Clemson Tigers and South Carolina State Bulldogs sports items, celebrity memorabilia and items from several local businesses.

Tickets for the 3rd Annual Growing Home Southeast Oyster Roast are $25 each. Which includes all food and beverages.  For purchase information, contact the Growing Home Southeast office at 803-791-5513.
